We havent forgotten you and we have also tried to ensure that whilst the kids will have a great time, the adults will be able to relax and kick back a bit as well.
We have our very own private bar at La Touche, only for our guests and the odd friend that may pop by. It stocks a wide selection of wines, beers, cidres and spirits as well as soft drinks and coffees.
Also in the bar is Sky Sports, which shows all the major sporting events, and a lot of the minor ones as well!
There is a pool table, books and what we hope is a convivial and socialable atmosphere where you can get to know the other parents.
And whilst kids are welcome, the monitors do work in the bar as well.
Weekly in the bar we run a Wine and Cheese tasting evening and a Galette and Crepe evening.
To the front of the bar are several bistro tables and chairs where we can serve you drinks and perhaps any Plat du Jour you may have ordered.
Although the idea of a gite holiday is that your accommodation is fully equipped for self-catering, we also offer fresh bread and patisseries for breakfast which are delivered every morning from a local boulangerie.
In addition, we prepare a fresh home cooked “Plat du Jour” on selected days of the week, which you can either have delivered to your gite or eat in the bar if you decide to order it. Please note, that during school holidays, the number of Plat du Jours offered per week reduces as experience has shown that fewer families order food as they are going out for meals in the evenings.
Once a week, you can order a Fruit de Mer which contains local oysters, lobster, crab, prawns, whelks and langoustine, with homemade mayonnaise and shallot vinegar. Great to eat with a bottle of Sancerre from our bar.
Some typical Plat du Jour menus are:
Coquille St Jacques (scallops in cider and cream)
Prawns in garlic and chilli
Charentais Melon and Mint salad
Cous Cous Royale (lamb, chicken and merguez cous cous)
Tartiflette and Salad
Pork in Cidre
Tarte Normande (apple, almond and calvados tarte)
Dame Blanche (traditional ice cream desert)
Chocolate fondant and ice cream
Fresh fruit salad
We have a basketball hoop, football goals, boules piste, volleyball amongst a few of our facilities, which have been a big hit with the adults as well as the kids over the years.
The area is great for cycling and we have lots of regular clients who come through with their bikes and log their routes on Strava. We would be happy to point you in the right direction and are very happy to store your bikes in our garage or you can put them in your gite.
There are luxury robes and REN beauty products for the adults in each gite along with luxury linens on all double beds.
There are herbs available for you to use and lots of different flowers and shrubs. They really are very pretty and there is always a quiet corner where you can relax on the grass, under a tree and read a book, relax in hamac, or take in the sun at one of the loungers at the pool.
The complex has a Wi-Fi connection allowing you free access to the Internet and your e-mails from the bar, terrace and other communal areas.
Once a week we organise a 5km walk around the local area. This gives takes you to some places you wouldn’t necessarily discover without local knowledge and is good if you are looking for a 5km running route away for the roads. Children are also welcome and on the way they can discover cherries and other fruits (depending on the time of year), donkeys and Pokemon! Although even this isn’t enough to stop them from complaining a little normally.
